A.F.E.W. is a group of volunteers that work with the public to help to re home their pets without going through the shelter system. We service the tri-state area of NY, NJ and PA. We often intervene and will finance spay/neuter and veterinary assistance to low-income residents who would not otherwise have the resources to care for their animals. We also provide financial support for the medical care of the animals in the municipal shelters and incur boarding costs to move animals from them to avoid euthanasia.
A.F.E.W. provides vaccinations, spay/neuter, vet care, and microchips, including other surgeries and medical needs. A.F.E.W. volunteers donate their time to fundraise and work with the animals in our care. Prior to the pandemic, volunteers brought adoptable animals to A.F.E.W.'s Adoption Days in search of their forever homes. Now we do meets by appointment.
A.F.E.W. is not a shelter, but rather a network of foster homes that provide housing and socialization of our "customers", the animals, until we can find them a home. A.F.E.W. works to raise public awareness of animal issues. We promote public education in fostering respect, understanding and care for all animals, as well as special emphasis on spaying and neutering to help stop pet overpopulation.
Adoption days are normally every Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm during the spring/summer/early fall at:
